1950 - 1953 Hotchkiss-Grégoire

The Grégoire is a luxury car produced from 1950 to 1953 by the French automaker 'Hotchkiss, although the design had probably been virtually finalised, at least on paper, a few years earlier. In 1950s France the Grégoire would have been seen as a large car.
The Grégoire was a modern-looking four-door saloon. Reportedly as a response to disappointing sales for the saloon, special-bodied coach-built coupe and cabriolet versions also appeared at the 1952 Paris Motor Show, including a streamlined Grégoire-based coupé with an eye-catching 'panoramic' rear window bodied by the Coachbuilder Henri Chapron.

Das Unternehmen Hotchkiss aus Saint-Denis verwendete den Markennamen Hotchkiss-Grégoire ab 1950 für die Fahrzeuge, die auf dem Prototypen Grégoire R von Jean-Albert Grégoire basierten. 1954 endete die Produktion nach 248 hergestellten Exemplaren. Grégoire entwickelte das Fahrzeug weiter und brachte es 1956 als Grégoire Sport auf den Markt.
Das einzige Modell hatte einen Vierzylinder-Boxermotor und Frontantrieb. Bei den Prototypen betrug der Hubraum 1998 cm³ und die Motorleistung 60 PS, in der Serienfertigung kam ein vergrößerter Motor mit 2188 cm³ Hubraum und 70 PS zum Einsatz. Der Radstand betrug 250 cm, die Fahrzeuglänge 465 cm. Neben der Limousine gab es auch ein Coupé.
